A NOS not quite smooth woven rayon cord with a zinc-like fixture. It looks like these cords were woven a little differently than the smooth cords. Please enlarge the photo to see more detail. These were a private purchase item at the local PX during WWII. Eventually the ball chain took over as the standard military issue.

These are getting pretty hard to find and would make excellent christmas gifts or stocking stuffers for your loved ones.
